Leslie Kean Movie

This is cool news, via Leslie Kean’s Facebook page.
I’m working with the award-winning film company Break Thru Films on a two hour TV special for the History Channel, based on the book. This has been a major focus for about 6 weeks. On Saturday we’re going to Belgium, the Channel Islands and France to shoot [...]

Leslie Kean/Michio Kaku

September 14, 2010Henry Baum No Comments »

Nice interview with Leslie Kean and Michio Kaku.  The intro is amusing – I guess he’s trying to get people interested in science.  He’s a nice antidote to Neil deGrasse Tyson, who’s come down hard against the UFO issue.  I like Kaku’s robotic virus theory at the beginning.

Leslie Kean vs. James Oberg vs. Bad Astronomer

September 7, 2010Henry Baum 5 Comments »

Leslie Kean has responded to James Oberg’s review of her book on MSNBC. Oberg is a famous debunker – not a skeptic, a debunker, i.e. someone who looks to disprove something no matter the evidence. His criticism was pretty lightweight – his claim is that because pilots can have skewed perception, this means [...]

Kean/Lehrer

August 24, 2010Henry Baum No Comments »

When I lived in New York City (nineties-2001) I was addicted to the WNYC talk shows of Brian Lehrer and Leonard Lopate.  Though they stream everywhere now, it’s been a while.  So, cool to hear Leslie Kean talking about her book and UFOs on the show:

Yeah, I’m posting a lot about her as she [...]

UFOs on Daily Kos

August 22, 2010Henry Baum No Comments »

I posted a version of my Leslie Kean review on Daily Kos to see how it would be received – not usually a hotbed of interest in anomalous ideas.  But the book’s written for that audience more than it’s written for me.  I already get that UFOs are an important phenomenon worth studying.  The post [...]

UFOs by Leslie Kean

August 18, 2010Henry Baum 2 Comments »

I haven’t finished this book yet, but the book’s worth it for the forward and the introduction alone. Seriously, if you don’t have a Kindle or iPad, download Kindle for desktop so you can get access to book samples. Her introduction is some of the best writing on the UFO phenomenon I’ve seen [...]

SETI

August 12, 2010Henry Baum No Comments »

A post on the Huffington Post by Seth Shostak led to this book by Paul Davies (I’ve read his God and the New Physics), which includes a very good interview:
Q: What’s wrong with existing SETI?
A: A fundamental flaw lies at the core of most existing SETI strategies. Carl Sagan popularized the [...]
