The Reflecting Pool

Interesting movie about investigating 9-11. Always interested to see how people work conspiracy theories into a work of fiction. Not totally effective because it’s basically a conversation between two people about the attacks. But it’s effective because it’s about a skeptical reporter looking for info, rather than the non-skeptical point of view [...]

Esoteric Agenda

July 4, 2010Henry Baum No Comments »

Watched this. Sort of another “Zeitgeist,” except it’s fairly right wing (as opposed to Libertarian) and full of contradictions. The elite are pagans out to create a world that worships the earth so the answer is…paganism. A strange mixture of New Age spirituality and right wing rhetoric. Has this alarmingly stupid [...]

Torture

Today’s peaceful news of the day: Experiments in Torture: Evidence of Human Subject Research and Experimentation in the ‘Enhanced’ Interrogation Program:
In one gruesome set of experiments, at least 25 detainees were submitted to both individual and combined use of the different “enhanced interrogation” techniques developed by the CIA through reverse-engineering of [...]

Alterati

May 14, 2010Henry Baum 1 Comment »

Listen to my podcast interview on Alterati with Joseph Matheny, where I talk about conspiracies and reveal something about myself that I’ve never actually revealed in public.  I’ll be getting into that in Part Two of The American Book of the Dead, which I’ve started writing and will likely post here in pieces.  You’ll have [...]

Chemtrails

April 14, 2010Henry Baum No Comments »

I’ve thought Chemtrails were the bottom of the barrel of conspiracy theorizing.  The concept of spraying mind-control chemicals from airplanes isn’t all that convincing – mind control paranoia rarely is.  But spraying aluminum into the atmosphere to help combat global warming is more interesting:

Good debunking stuff here.
Meanwhile: Bill Gates pays for ‘artificial’ clouds to beat [...]

No Man’s Land

I’ve written before about how certain types of conspiracy theory have been taken over solely by the right.  I’ve been on the lookout for a forum to discuss some of these issues but find they’re now taken over by the hard right.  Case in point, a place like Godlike Productions, which last I checked (during [...]

Zeitgeist: Addendum

February 14, 2010Henry Baum 1 Comment »

Say what you will about the conspiracy theory inherit in the Zeitgeist movement, but you cannot deny the intelligence and sincerity of Jacque Frescoe and his vision of a possible utopia.  Here’s a fascinating interview (first part) with Larry King from 1974.

The Venus Project clearly separates the Zeitgeist movement from other conspiracy theorizing from the [...]

Zeitgeist: The Movie

February 13, 2010Henry Baum 2 Comments »

Powerful, effective.  If the issue of 9-11 truth gives you jitters, you might be put off by part 2, but you should at least investigate it before dismissing it out of hand.  But part one makes an enormously compelling case for the cross-pollination of world myths and how Jesus’s death and resurrection is nothing more [...]

Liberal Man vs. Conservative Man

November 10, 2009Henry Baum 1 Comment »

“Spoken Word Piece” by the Minutemen
Liberal Man meets Conservative Man
Conservative Man wears his myth on his skin
Liberal Man has to explain his and keeps his shirt all buttoned up
Conservative Man greets Liberal Man with a well-rehearsed cold stare
Liberal Man replies by issuing forth horseshit
Conservative Man retaliates by taking the concrete reality of the
situation and lodging [...]
