It’s interesting, if only as fiction, but I can’t get past the silliness factor. I’ve been reading one currently, Path to Empowerment by Barbara Marciniak. The “Introduction to the Pleiadians” begins:

We call ourselves Pleiadians. And by the way of an introduction, let us say that we are journeyers through time and multiple dimensions. We are a curious group intent upon exploring the nooks and crannies of existence.

I know that alien intelligences are supposedly hampered by the capabilities of the channeler, but I can’t quite trust an advanced intelligence that uses a phrase like “nooks and crannies.”

While reading Daniel Pinchbeck’s Notes from the Edge Times, I learned about the Voyagers by Ashayana Deane, which I’ve never cracked open. It’s a pretty terrifying document – not just if it’s real, but that a person wrote all this out in such alarming detail. If there was a “Galactic Federation” then this would have to have by-laws – and even if it’s fake, some of these by-laws make sense:

The 9 11 WTC Pentagon Attack and the Illuminati One World Order – Voyagers

Looking into that book brought me to Operation Terra, which has some interesting comments on Amazon:

This woman, I’m convinced, began this enterprise with a good intention, but unfortunately for those who may still be clinging to the original concept, she has been swallowed up by her own, self-purposed religion. Yes, this is a cult-type religion of the ilk of Jonestown, without the poison Kool Aid… yet spewing plenty of it’s own sort of tainted rhetoric. This woman’s mind and heart are outta joint, to put it nicely. There’s no need to be waiting for a giant world calamity that will never arrive, and how long will it take before her readers realize this? Another year; two years; a decade?

If the “Creator”, or “Creators”, wish there be a certain story told; an unfolding of creation for humankind… do you suppose they would do it via the means of a “Closed to the public” website? Ms. Estes website became more and more closed and secretive as she began to realize there was certain unrest even within the ranks of her own “Followers”, so to speak. So she banned certain ones; kicked out others, and eventually closed the future endeavors of the site to all of the public… “Snooze you loose” sort of mentality. You, as the reader of this post, are learned enough to understand what kind of closed-hearted “Religious” zealot-like nature this has; which has been witnessed throughout the ions of Earth-time. This is nothing new. Puritanically speaking: “Do as i say”, and never mind the man behind the curtain.

My guess is that much of the time people confuse artistic inspiration with a voice from beyond. I don’t think channeling is totally impossible, as people have channeled things they have no business knowing. But the process of writing is always like channeling – words come to you before they’re written, as you need to think something before writing it. This slight delay could be perceived as coming from somewhere else – especially if you’re suddenly writing about something that never interested you in the past. For doubters, read Channeling by Jon Klimo – I thought the entire field was bullshit, but there’s a lot there to give you pause.

What’s concerning is how people can be taken to believe channelers are a kind of priest class with a direct line to “God.” The American Book of the Dead is in part about channeling – I claim to be channeling myself in ten years, who’s sending back information. If you can channel alien beings that transcend time and space, why can’t you channel your future self? That’s the book’s fictional conceit. And the first novel was most certainly written in a frenzy of obsession, as if I was compelled to write – but then, that’s how writing usually goes.

The problem is that the character becomes a kind of messianic figure, an evolved form of man, even if the book’s taking aim at blind worship – so someone could potentially wonder if I’m channeling a messianic figure. Today I got an email saying the book reads like a “Bible” and that I have a telepathic connection to the reader. If this is you, it’s flattering, but the book is in part how there should be no Bible – laws shouldn’t be dictated by storytelling. Not saying this kind of reaction will be widespread, but whenever you’re writing about religion and channeling, people may get mixed up about the intentions. Well hell, this might have to be a plot line in Part II.

Discovered Sott.net via a Facebook posting by Evolver.net. A nice lengthy dissection of Alex Jones that echoes what I’ve been thinking. As I wrote on Facebook:

RA Wilson calls some conspiracy theorists “adrenaline addicts.” Think that describes AJ. He wants there to be a conspiracy more than he wants there to be a solution. His stupid bullhorn is all about calling attention to himself, thereby making some reasonable questions about govt. seem like the product of the wacko fringe. Funny how the people who talk most about “liberty” are proto-fascists.

That led me to books by the person who runs the site, Laura Knight Jadczyk:

Signs of the Times, or SOTT.net, was launched on March 26, 2002 by Laura Knight-Jadczyk.

A historian and author of repute in her own right, Laura Knight-Jadczyk is the wife of renowned theoretical physicist, Arkadiusz Jadczyk, one of the world’s few living experts in hyperdimensional physics.

Since its early days when it was just a one-woman operation, SOTT.net has evolved into one of the leading news sites for those tired of the “news” that is “reported” by the mainstream media.

The original idea behind SOTT was to track what was going on socially and politically in terms of global energies in much the same way that a physicist attempts to track and measure more subtle energies – the theory being that society is like a macro-quantum system that follows certain laws of the Universe, and can be predicted in the same way that the quantum world can be statistically analyzed and predicted.

About her book, The Wave, she says,

I began writing the Wave Series and other articles as a way of collecting excerpts together in general subjects. As I did this, a truly extraordinary thing began to happen. The Cassiopaean Experiment had resulted in transmissions from myself in the future, and I realized that by doing the suggested research, by digging for the answers based on the clues given me, I was becoming myself in the future – a cosmic self. I began to see what I had been trying to convey to myself from this superconscious state. The years of experimental work had created a new circuit wherein it was possible to simply ask a question in my mind about the subject at hand, and the answer would flow through my fingers onto the keyboard. I was often as amazed at what came out as anyone.

As I’ve mentioned, this is the premise behind The American Book of the Dead – that I was channeling myself in the future. As I’ve also mentioned, I don’t actually believe I’ve done this because I think my writing of the novel was too self-conscious and self-reflective in the here and now. Interesting to think it’s possible – and who knows, maybe I did.

I’m hoping that the forums of Cassiopaea are not overrun with deranged teabaggers, as is the case with places like Godlike Productions and Above Top Secret. I did a bit of digging and some accuse the group of being a cult. Not surprising, given that Laura Knight Jadczyk claims to channel beings from Cassiopaea with sessions such as:

Q: (L) Are there alien bases on the Moon?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) Who do the bases belong to?
A: Grays.
Q: (L) Was there ever at any time such a thing as mermaids?
A: No.
Q: (L) What is the origin of this legend?
A: Sailors delirium.
Q: (L) Are there alien bases on Mars?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) Whose?
A: Grays and Lizards.

More:

Q: (L) What procedure or technology do the Grays use to pass
through solid matter?
A: Transdimensional atomic rearrangement.
Q: (L) How do aliens transport themselves or others on beams of
light?
A: By electron focusing and previous answer.

Q: (V) Do I have an implant in my right ear?
A: Yes.
Q: (V) It has been going off a lot lately.
A: Caused by your interactions with these powerful channels.
Q: (V) What do you mean by powerful channels?
A: Laura and F***.
Q: (V) Are they Lizard implants?
A: Yes. Monitoring heavily lately.
Q: (V) When did I get the implants?
A: Age 3.

etc.

Is this group a cult? I don’t know. But I think “cult” is wielded in the same way as “conspiracy theory” – to automatically discredit an idea. Is this a singularly weird spiritual framework? No doubt. But a cult involves brainwashing, abuse of believers, and generally being holed up in the same place. Selling books is not quite the same thing. If every strange spiritual practice is labeled a cult – even if it is led by someone with a propensity for high strangeness – this could tamp down people’s attempts at spiritual exploration.

No doubt someone who follows that road is “out there” but the question isn’t whether or not a channeler is actually channeling something real, the question is if the result is interesting. Same thing with UFOs – so much rides on “proof” but the important question is, What’s this all mean if it’s true. That there’s no hard proof doesn’t mean that issue’s been resolved. A channeler may just be inventing fiction – but fiction isn’t a lie just because it’s made up. Even if the channeler believes too strongly that they’re tapped into the real thing (as most channelers seem to) that doesn’t disregard everything they put to paper. Fact is, we don’t know exactly where it’s coming from any more than we know where artistic inspiration comes from and what makes some artists tapped into something beyond themselves and some artists not.

And I’m no Icke-ite by any means – and Laura Knight Jadczyk subscribes to those sorts of ideas. But I do see a fundamental weirdness in how the world is devolving. As a friend wrote to me recently:

The whole situation is indeed so weird and crazy that even the most “absurd” explanations can seem plausible.

Profit? Doesn’t make sense, as you point out.

“Progress”? Nope.

Power? Over a despoiled ash heap?

Vampiric shape-shifting reptiles from outer space? … well… maybe…

Interesting post on Mysterious Universe about cases of novelists inadvertently predicting the future:

One of the more startling instances of such “psychic novelist” activity involved Edgar Allan Poe, who managed to predict with frightening detail an exact series of events that later transpired at sea aboard a seagoing vessel called the Mignonette. In his longest (and arguably his strangest) story, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym, the ship carrying the narrator and its crew encountered a freakish squall, in which only a handful of men survived. Among them was a lowly cabin boy named Richard Parker, who later was cannibalized in what was then known as the grim “custom of the sea.” Though this series of events was conjured from Poe’s mind, decades later the Mignonette was destroyed under almost identical circumstances, where a sudden 40-foot wave capsized the ship. Among the survivors–and first to be killed and cannibalized–was the cabin boy, whose name was none other than Richard Parker! Captain Tom Dudley, along with those who had helped devour young Parker, were later discovered alive, and were tried for murder.

(via UFO Mystic)

The conceit in The American Book of the Dead is that I’m channeling myself twelve years from now – a form of time travel, so the novel’s being written concurrently in the future and the present. No, I don’t actually believe I did that. But time will tell, won’t it! If there’s ever a presidential candidate named Charles Winchell, I’ll become very afraid.

I thought channeling was total bunk until I read Channeling by Jon Klimo. Don’t know exactly where it comes from, but it’s compelling enough to not write it off. I got into such a headspace while I was reading the book that a voice said to me, “I chose to be you.” I’m not usually one to hear voices – but reading can very much be a psychedelic experience.

Read Channeling in its entirety. Love this graphic so I’m stealing it:
