Battle: Los Angeles

Enough with the aliens are evil movies. Still waiting for a UFO movie that’s a continuation of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” where the aliens are benevolent, even if they snatch people away. Instead there’s stuff like this:

Great promotional campaign, I’ll give them that:

Not totally interested in another war movie about aliens. We already have “Aliens” and “Independence Day,” which I love, but the point’s been made: aliens can kill you. The implications of UFO contact are far more interesting than just another enemy to point a machine gun at. Of course, there are plenty of conspiracy theorists who think that there’s going to be a false flag alien invasion, and movies like this just set us up for it. If there’s any conspiracy, it’s to keep people from investigating the potentially-positive implications of alien life. What would be the impact on religion, on future human civilization? But movies just shoot guns at them, which is about as stupid a response as the military shooting at UFOs over Los Angeles in the forties.

There’s probably not a conspiracy, other than the fact that it’s much easier to entertain people with a bunch of shit blowing up. And I’ll be right there. I’ll watch any movie about UFOs. Anything.
